Why choose IC Markets
IC Markets is highly recommended for forex traders, mostly because of its low trading fees. I won’t be lying to you: it’s the super tight spreads that keep me coming back to IC Markets, though its currency pair selection is also quite impressive. Beginners may find IC Markets’s industry-standard MetaTrader platform outdated and clunky, but seasoned traders will welcome its familiar features.
✅ Pro | ❌ Cons |
❖ Low forex fees ❖ Easy and fast account opening ❖ Free deposit and withdrawal ❖ Offers standard and raw spread accounts | ❖ Limited product selection ❖ Slow live chat support ❖ No investor protection for non-EU clients |

Account base currencies
At IC Markets, you can choose from the following 10 base currencies:
EUR | USD | GBP | AUD |

HKD | CAD |
This selection is average compared to competing brokers.
Broker | Number of base currencies |
---|---|
IC Markets | 10 |
Pepperstone | 10 |
Vantage | 9 |
Why does this matter? For two reasons. If you fund your trading account in the same currency as your bank account or you trade assets in the same currency as your trading account base currency, you won't have to pay a conversion fee.
A convenient way to save on currency conversion fees is by opening a multi-currency bank account at a digital bank. These usually offer bank accounts in several currencies with great currency exchange rates, as well as free or cheap international bank transfers. Opening an account only takes a few minutes on your phone.
Deposit fees and options
IC Markets charges no deposit fees.
There are many ways to add money to your account, although some of the deposit options are not available for each account base currency. For example, BPay accepts only AUD payments.

Mobile app
Score: 3.3/5
IC Markets has a great mobile trading platform offered by MetaTrader 4. It has a catchy design and it's easy to use. Nevertheless, the platform lacks a safe login.
✅ Pro | ❌ Cons |
❖ User-friendly ❖ Good search function ❖ Price alerts | ❖ No two-step (safer) login ❖ No Touch/Face ID login |
IC Marketsoffers MetaTrader 4 as its mobile trading platform. MetaTrader 4 is available for both iOS and Android, and we tested it on both.
After downloading the MT4 mobile trading platform, you have to access the ICMarkets-Live server.
The mobile trading platform is available in several languages.
Arabic | Chinese (Simplified) | Chinese (Traditional) | Czech | English |
French | German | Greek | Hindi | Indonesian |
Italian | Japanese | Korean | Polish | Portuguese |
Portuguese (Brazil) | Russian | Spanish | Thai | Turkish |
Ukrainian | Vietnamese |
Changing the language is a bit tricky on Android devices: you can only do it if you change the default language of your mobile device.
Look and feel
IC Markets has a great mobile trading platform, we really liked the design and the user-friendly features that are easy to find.

Login and security
IC Markets provides only a one-step login for its mobile platform. A two-step authentication would be more secure and adding this feature should be high on any company's list of security changes.
You can't log in using biometric authentication. Providing this feature would be more convenient.
Search functions
The search functions are good.
You can search by typing the name of a product or by navigating the category folders.

Placing orders
You can use the following order types on the mobile trading platform:
- Market
- Limit
- Stop-loss
There are also order time limits you can use:
- Good 'til canceled (GTC)
- Good 'til time (GTT)

Alerts and notifications
You cannot set alerts and notifications on the IC Markets mobile platform.
Alerts and notifications are available only on the desktop trading platform. Developing this feature for the mobile trading platform as well would be much appreciated.

The web trading platform of IC Markets is provided by MetaTrader. The platform is highly customizable, available in many languages, and has a clear fee report. On the other hand, it lacks a two-step login and price alerts, and the design is outdated.
✅ Pro | ❌ Cons |
❖ Clear fee report ❖ Good customizability (for charts, workspace) ❖ Order confirmation | ❖ No two-step (safer) login ❖ No price alerts ❖ Poor design |
IC Markets offers MetaTrader 4 as a desktop trading platform.
It has the same design, it is available in the same languages, offers almost the same order types (trailing stop is also available), has the same search functions, and features the same portfolio and fee reports as the web trading platform. These reports can be found under the ‘Account History' tab: right click on one position and choose ‘Save as Detailed Report'.
The major difference is that you can set alerts and notifications in the form of mobile push or email notifications on the desktop trading platform. To set email or mobile notifications, you have to add your email address and mobile MetaQuotes ID (you can find it in the MT4 app's settings). To add them, go to ‘Tools' and select ‘Options'.
